I’m Andreas R. Hansen
Nordvirke Saws is my passion project, born from a love for metal- and woodworking. I started by collecting vintage saws from barn sales across the country. Now I only needed to learn how to re-sharpen them again. It wasn't always smooth sailing; there were plenty of trial and error moments. Over time, I mastered the art of sharpening.
Restoring these vintage saws taught me valuable lessons and expanded my knowledge. It's not just about fixing old tools; it's about discovering the stories each saw holds. Bringing them back to life is incredibly satisfying, and that's the heart of Nordvirke Saws. It's more than a brand; it's a journey of passion, craftsmanship, and a commitment to excellence.
After spending years restoring vintage saws, I found a new passion in crafting my own. It all started in the winter of 2020, and the process of making unique and beautiful hand tools brought me great joy. The combination of metal and woodworking was a perfect fit for me as a mechanical engineer with a love for greenwood working. Before long, Nordvirke Saws, a small, passionate company from Denmark, was born. It's not just about saws; it's about the joy of creating something special.
Making saws of highest quality comes down to loving what I do and putting in the effort. I want to create legacy saws to be passed down generation to generation.
Over time, I have mastered the skill of filing saw teeth to perfection. The sharpness of a saw is crucial to its performance, affecting the quality of cuts, the effort required for cutting, and the overall efficiency of the tool.
The teeth of a sharp saw are designed with precision, with well-defined angles and edges that enable efficient cutting. The tooth geometry may vary depending on the type of saw and its intended use.
